Jovial Foods is a leading organic food brand committed to producing high-quality, allergen-friendly products made from simple, traditional ingredients. Alongside their sister brand, Bionaturae—known for authentic Italian organic pasta, olive oil, and tomato products—Jovial offers a seamless eCommerce experience where customers can shop both brands in one combined storefront.
The Project
Jovial Foods partnered with BlueSwitch to replatform both the Jovial and Bionaturae brands from Magento to Shopify Plus. Their previous sites lacked the backend functionality needed for marketing and required significant developer involvement for even minor updates. Additionally, the old platform was overly product-focused and failed to effectively communicate the brand’s mission and values. The new unified Shopify Plus site delivers a streamlined shopping experience with a shared cart system for both brands, while also showcasing a refreshed look and feel that balances product discovery with storytelling—helping customers connect with who Jovial and Bionaturae are, not just what they sell.

Our Solution
Migrating from Magento to Shopify Plus
To support the migration from Magento to Shopify, we conducted in-depth discovery sessions to address the technical and design needs of managing two brands—Jovial and Bionaturae—within a single Shopify Plus storefront. The project required custom Shopify theme development with brand-specific layouts, UI components, and tailored PDP and PLP templates. Using metaobjects and metafields, we enabled flexible content management for structured product and recipe data, ensuring accurate product-to-template mapping and a seamless dual-brand shopping experience.
Advanced data migration with Matrixify
For the data migration from Magento to Shopify, we used Matrixify and Excel to efficiently manage and import legacy product and customer data. We also configured the domain and subdomain structure with extensive DNS updates and a comprehensive system of redirects to maintain SEO continuity and ensure a seamless transition, routing both the Jovial domain and Bionaturae subdomain to a single Shopify Plus store.
SAP integration to align with key backend processes
SAP integration involved close collaboration with the client’s middleware and IT teams to test API connections, validate data syncs, and align the new store with backend business processes. Additionally, we implemented a custom contact form using a third-party app with conditional logic to streamline customer inquiries and improve communication across departments. Throughout development, a detailed QA process was implemented to verify performance, accuracy, and brand consistency. Despite the compressed 3-month timeline, strong communication and agile project management enabled us to stay on track and deliver a polished, functional dual-brand Shopify store on schedule
