Rapiscan is a global leader in security screening solutions that maximize threat detection with its advanced checkpoint security equipment. They’ve created cutting edge, technologically advanced products that can detect thousands of trace contaminants, explosives, and illegal substances. Notably, their install base includes NATO, the European Union, Manchester Airport Group, UK Customs, Hong Kong International Airport, US Department of Homeland Security (TSA, CBP), US Department of Defense, and countless other private security operations. Rapiscan came to BlueSwitch with what they thought was a simple request: provide their European, Middle Eastern, and African customers a fast and easy method to purchase on their site. Turns out, they needed to completely replatform their site.

The Rapiscan site was running on a highly fragmented and antiquated system that failed customer needs, lacked services, and didn’t support their international audience. Due to the dependency their clientele needs from their services and products as well as the international security at risk by not being available 24/7 in over 170+ countries, Rapiscan was on an aggressive deadline.
the solution
BlueSwitch replatformed Rapiscan onto Shopify Plus and created a brand new, high functioning eCommerce site with an out-of-the-box software solution that includes customizations specific to their global business needs. The new site was made to be customizable, expandable when ready, and put forth an easy-to-use, branded customer interface. BlueSwitch leveraged its sister-company Multify’s app Multi-Admin , so that the site could properly communicate with Rapiscan’s existing systems. Now, Rapiscan could create targeted custom features that met their customers’ most demanding threat detection requirements.
The new site allows Rapiscan’s existing customers to access the vital items they need in order to keep their security operations functioning without the dependency of IT for daily management. Most importantly, the site now provides current and future customers a site centered on ease-of-use, high functionality and is always current.
results
The site is such a massive success that it’s being rapidly replicated to serve other global regions across the world due to the high demand from other Rapiscan Systems’ global customers.
The Rapiscan site has garnered recognition across the industry for its remarkably customer-friendly and easy to use functionality and was a finalist at the 2019 eCommerce awards for Best B2B eCommerce site and Best Innovation in eCommerce Payment.
